Position Title: Curriculum Specialist
Department: Basic Education
Reports to: Director of Assessment and Candidate Affairs
Position Summary
Manages the continued review, assessment and enhancement of Basic and Continuing Education curricula. Accountable for developing and maintaining a competency-based curriculum plan aligned with the strategic goals of the profession. Supports the development, implementation, validation and enhancement of a competency model. Applies the model to improve existing offerings, identify needs and develop future educational programs and support materials. Liaises with Meetings and Events and Actuarial Marketplace department staff to recommend development and delivery modes, processes and materials.
Core Responsibilities

- Support the development, implementation, analysis, review, implementation, maintenance and updating of a competency model for curriculum development and the continuing education of actuaries.
- Conduct curriculum reviews of existing continuing education offerings.
- Create and implement a curriculum plan that aligns with the competency model and with the strategic goals of the profession.
- Conduct needs assessments, analyze data and identify, recommend and prioritize educational offerings to meet stakeholder needs and close gaps.
- Analyze evaluation data to recommend improvements and enhancements.
- Provide appropriate technical assistance and training to staff and volunteers to enable curriculum plan implementation.
- Liaise with subject matter experts and volunteers to develop programs and materials aligned to the curriculum plan.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Education, Career Education or a related field is required. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Requires a minimum of five (5) years of curriculum planning and course development experience in an association or education/training environment.
Application of educational theory and best practice methods (learning theory, adult learning theory, instructional design and delivery, evaluation).
Understanding of curriculum development theory and best practice methods and procedures.
Working knowledge of instructional technology and technology-based learning solutions (e-Learning, web-based, blended, etc.).
Project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently.
